The 5Rs - Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

1. CONTRIBUTING TO THE CEDAR GREEN PLAN: Each class in Cedar has a recycling box, so do put in newspapers/paper you do not want as long it's not smaller than A5 size. After drinking from aluminium cans/plastic bottles, give them a rinse and put them in too! Green Reps will then bring them down to the corner next to the Theatrette every Tuesday. The amount of recyclables collected will be recorded and all these 'Green Points' will go towards the 'Best Class Award' at the end of the year. Not only saving the Earth, you're helping your class earn points too!

2. DON'T CHOOSE TO USE PLASTIC BAGS WHEN SHOPPING: When you go shopping, bring along a few shopping bags. Instead of putting your purchases in plastic bags, put them in your eco-friendly bags!

3. REUSING FOOD/PRODUCT PACKAGING: Many will not bring their own shopping bags when shopping, because of the need for plastic bags. Rubbish can be thrown into plastic bags and then disposed of, which is why majority choose to use plastic bags. How about food and product packagings? They are usually made up plastic too! Just cut of the top neatly to take our your food/product and you can later throw rubbish into the packaging before disposal! For example, use bread loaf packagings or cereal packagings.

4. AFTER AN ICY DRINK: After drinking an iced Milo, you'll find that there are still ice cubes in your cup. Don't waste that! Put the remaining ice cubes into pots of plants and once the ice cubes melt, the plants get a drink too.
